Black Young Professionals Network - THE APP LAUNCH!!

September 18, 2017

Saturday night was the official Black Young Professionals Network App Launch and what an event it was with a turn out of over 200 guests! There was great food and drink, amazing speakers, entertainment and an afterparty to round off the successful night.

We first heard from the Founder & CEO, Kike Oniwinde, who gave a little depth and insight into the BYP Network, how it came to be and its future ambitions (see previous post).

Our four speakers, Ayo Awe, Tonte Bo Douglas, Michael Tabirade and Mary Lasile gave their interpretations and wisdom on professional development, dating, socialising and networking; all key features of the BYP Network platform.

Ayo, an area manager within the automotive industry, lead the way with the importance of professional development as young black people in the world of work.

He was followed by Tonte, a property manager who preached the rules and reality of dating in the black community- have a look here.

We were then graced with the soulful sounds of Dee Ajayi who gave the audience a treat with her amazing voice. She sang renditions of popular Jill Scott and Teedra Moses tracks, as well as her own original song.

Talks then continued with Michael, a self-published author who's book is available now on Amazon. He gave his five tips for effective networking, all which tie in with the BYP mantra.

Mary concluded with the positive impact of having like-minded friends. As an assistant psychologist, she knows the importance of having affirmative people around you, and their absence can have negative implications.

We premiered the BYP Network advert and followed this up with guests networking and connecting through the app to get matches.

Special guest Joshua Buatsi - Olympic bronze medallist, told his story of how passion, hard work and God have elevated him to his current success. Take a look at his journey HERE

Competition prize winners were announced before we finished the night off with an afterparty full of cocktails and champagne, while DJ Mr Stunz played the latest UK rap, afrobeats and bashment.

A MASSIVE thank you to all who attended and those pivotal in making this event a great success- your hard work and dedication is greatly appreciated
