Mentors Needed

Hey BYP Network,

Last week, I celebrated my birthday and I've been reflecting on what a year it has been. I feel more pumped than ever to change the black narrative and to include those who want to be involved with me along the way. With our BYP launch event in Wales TONIGHT, we're thinking all about connecting. To kick off the newsletter, we're talking all about mentor matching and how you can be involved.

On Monday 21st October, The Black Girls Mentoring Project and Black Male Empowerment Network, in collaboration with Osborne Clarke, are collaborating to host a joint event with
the aim of helping young black students to thrive academically and professionally. I'm
delighted to be a part of this great event, and I'll be speaking on the day as part of the
2.30-3.15pm panel. If you're unable to make it for 1-5pm, you can still attend from
4.30pm for networking

This event will have over 80 students in attendance, seeking professional advice, guidance and support. So, how can you be involved? We're looking for eager and enthusiastic mentors in our network to provide this. Whether you've mentored previously or if you've always wanted to, this is your chance to make a difference to the life of a young student.

If you would like to be involved, visit the Eventbrite link here and select the 'Mentors for Mentor Match' option. Email us at communications@bypnetwork.co.uk if you have any difficulty with this.

Seeking more opportunities?

We're still looking for BYP leaders. Wherever you're based, we want you to be involved! Read below to find out how you can be a leader and build your own community of young black professionals.

Want to collaborate and connect?

Want to be a part of the cause but don't see yourself as a BYP leader? Our brand new app is launching, and we want to use this platform to allow black professionals to seamlessly connect with existing groups and niche networks. Whether it's through sharing events or highlighting important opportunities - joining this app will grow your community.

Want to get involved? There's no time like the present! Whether you're a BAME employee network, you have a Black women's reading group, or you're an ACS, this is the primetime to widen your audience and build your base! Register here!

Let's Connect Together

We want BYP leaders!

We're seeking BYP leaders to help us launch new communities and networks in the UK and beyond. These leaders will be responsible for building a strong community of black professionals in their city by hosting monthly events, growing their group on the BYP app and creating a longstanding impact within their community. From organising monthly meet-ups and growing a team of local volunteers, to growing and promoting the community, we're looking for people who want to spread the BYP mission and be a part.

We are looking for BYP Leaders to help us launch in Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Nottingham, Leicester, Glasgow, Southampton, Liverpool, Dublin, Bristol and beyond!

Due to our influx of BYP leader requests from multiple cities, we're also happy to announce that we are accepting requests. So, no matter where you are in the world, it's open to you. If you feel your city isn't represented and you would like to represent BYP where you live, specify this in your application.

To apply to be a BYP Leader, please submit a 1-minute video explaining why you are the leader we need and what changing the black narrative means to you. Don't forget to send your name, number and city!

Send us an 'unlisted' youtube video to: ambassadors@bypnetwork.co.uk
