Weekly Newsletter #70: Announcing Our Special Guest...

Hey BYP Network,

It's less than one week until our biggest event of the year. Over 800 of you will be attending our Senior Leadership Conference and we're ecstatic to share our guest keynote speaker who will be opening the event.

Award-winning George the Poet will be kicking off the event at 9.15am with a 15-minute performance.

George the Poet is a London-born spoken word performer of Ugandan heritage. His innovative brand of musical poetry has won him critical acclaim and has seen his work broadcast to billions of people worldwide, most notably performing the official poem for the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

George’s podcast, ‘Have You Heard George’s Podcast?,’ expertly weaves his inimitable story-telling with intricate sound design and a powerful original score. BBC Radio 4 called one of the episodes “a story that could change the world”.

In 2019, George's podcast won "Podcast Of The Year” as well as four other Gold and two Silver British Podcast Awards, including Best New Podcast, Best Fiction, Smartest Podcast, Best Current Affairs, Best Arts & Culture, and Moment of the Year.

Outside of his work, George has spoken openly on Channel 4 News, Financial Times, GQ, the Guardian and more on race, identity and masculinity.

To us, George is the epitome of black excellence. Talented, outspoken and proud of his heritage, we cannot wait to welcome him to the stage.

For those of you attending our event, please note that George's performance will start at 9.15am sharp. Registration is from 8am-9am, so don't miss out on your chance to see George. Arrive early!

See you at our conference!
