The Oscars: Making History

Happy Wednesday to you all!

It's been an amazing month for BYP, and as we come to the end of February, I'm reflecting on all the brilliant things BYP Network has achieved and what's yet to come!

We held our first event and we're shortly announcing a very exciting event in March so keep your eyes peeled, it's going to be a big one!

This week, it's also been a great week for black excellence. If you didn't see the Oscars, you might have missed this, but here's our lowdown on the wonderful black talent who made history on the night!

Ruth Carter scooped the costume design trophy, and Hannah Beachler shared the production design prize with Jay Hart, making history as the first Black women to do so.

Among the other winners..

Green Book won Best Picture & Best Original Screenplay

Black Panther won Best Original Score

Regina King won Best Supporting Actress for her role in If Beale Street Could Talk

Mahershala Ali won Best Supporting Actor for his role in Green Book

BlacKkKlansman won Best Adapted Screenplay

It's a great time for the culture and I can't wait to see what this year brings for us all as a community.

Let's Keep Winning!
