Weekly Newsletter #33: The Entrepreneurship Special Edition

December 12, 2018

Happy Wednesday!

We're not all natural entrepreneurs, but I want to talk about the importance of tapping into your entrepreneurial side and how to take advantage of opportunities that arise!

I didn't see myself as an entrepreneur when I first started BYP, I saw a problem that needed solving and so I got to work. However, many of the things that make up an entrepreneur also make up an athlete - and these rang true from my time as a javelin thrower. They both require discipline, confidence, an open mind, creativity, determination, resilience and strong people skills. Aside from this though, I had support. I spent time networking with like-minded individuals, I sought advice and got mentors who helped to shape my ideas and who continue to be a source of strength.

Over the past year, I've benefitted from a lot of great programmes such as the Mayor of London's Business Growth Programme, Sky UK's Woman in Technology Scholar Programme and the New Entrepreneur Foundation's 2018 Programme. Whilst I have worked hard and had a great team behind me these programmes have given me the boost and resources I needed to take BYP to new levels.

So, if you have an idea or a business but you're struggling to make it a reality, consider these programmes:

New Entrepreneurs Foundation Class of 2019 application is now open! The NEF FastTrack supercharges your entrepreneurial endeavours and equips you with a founder mindset and skill set. This is a year long program that pairs you with a start-up company while you learn all the skills needed to succeed. (You don't need a business to apply)

Founders of the Future have launched their premier startup competition for 14-18 and 19-25 year olds across five regions of the UK - SE/SW, London, Midlands/Wales, NE/NW, Scotland and Northern Ireland. You could win £10, 000 for your startup, apprenticeships and more! Apply here. (You don't need a business to apply)

London & Partners Business Growth Programme. If your business falls into one of the following sectors - Tech, Media, Telecoms, Creative Industries or Life Sciences, apply! This is a 3 month

programme that matches you with mentors and workshops.

Now's the time to make your dream a reality!

It's vital we see representation across every sector, in every industry, in every region, and every country!
