Weekly Newsletter #30: Understanding Your Impact

November 21, 2018

Another week has passed and it's been a big one for BYP!

The Financial Times partnered with Inclusive Boards to put together a list of the UK's top 100 black and minority ethnic leaders in technology, and I was elated to find myself on the list for my work with BYP.

For some context, the tech sector has long suffered from a lack of diversity, including a low rate of ethnic minorities that hold leadership positions. In the UK almost three quarters of boards and 71 per cent of senior executive teams in the top tech firms have no BAME members, according to a report being released today by Inclusive Boards.

To see BYP Network recognised as one of the many forward-thinking companies driving progress and change in this sector was incredible, and got me to thinking about understanding how we as a community can have an impact.

When I set up BYP, I didn't expect for it to grow to the community of nearly 30, 000 it is today. It goes to show how we as individuals can change our narrative and make change. So, for all of you working 9-5, freelancing, studying, or working on your passion, understand your impact! Everything you are doing is making a difference.

Keep striving for success,
