Weekly Newsletter #26: It's That Time of Year Again

October 25, 2018

We've reached that time of the year again. The clocks are about to change, the weather is getting colder, and we'll soon be approaching the end of year.

Around this time, I find myself thinking 'What have I achieved this year?'. When it comes to BYP Network, it's been a year of rewards. From deciding to raise the bar every time by ensuring we do things bigger and better than the last time. This includes hosting a black panther private screening, to pitching in multiple contests to hosting a recruitment fair and getting investment to work on our new app.

I spoke at the Meeting of the Minds event, on Sunday, about the importance of mental and physical health whilst managing a business including a team, and trying to grow simultaneously. Before focusing full-time on BYP, I was training as an international athlete, working in fintech and building the network. For me, managing my life was and is still about being efficient, being reactive, and staying positive. Now I'm focusing more on taking time to think about myself, which brings me back to that question.

What have I achieved this year?

Being backed by Sky as a future leader, expanding the team and being more outspoken about the strength of the black community are what I'm most proud of. This all stemmed from putting myself outside of my comfort zone and understanding that this platform is bigger than me. It's here to make long-lasting impact and to change the black narrative.

For you, take some time out this month to think about what you've achieved, what you want to achieve, and how you're going to do it. Now's the time to put the work in to ensure that 2018 ends with a bang!
